John Janousek's Handicapped Bathroom Remodel

Donation protected
Hello,
Bad news and good news. Bad news is that we were denied the grant application to remodel our master bathroom to meet Johns need for independence and accessibility. Good news, we’re going to give it a shot anyway!
Find a way, or make a way. We have until John's 50th Bday to do our best to meet this goal and start the demo! (Eek!) December 13th is John's Birthday.
Love, Christy Janousek

UPDATE 11-20-2022
Two Hutchinson High School classmates Bob Arthur and Steve Dettman, have generously donating their time and materials.
Therefore, we have been able to drastically reduce the associated costs. Bless their kind hearts .

My name is Cory McClure.
Johnny is a long-time friend from our neighborhood days growing up in Hutchinson.

John had a severe stroke this summer, losing the ability to speak and use his right side.

Recently, Christy and John installed a stair lift for John to access the main level of their home.

The expenses to remodel their house are extensive and expensive.

They now need to remodel the bathroom, making it handicapped-accessible.

Here is the project description. Work will start in Mid December.
The bathroom is 13’x12’. The door is currently a typical 2’8”. It needs to be replaced with a wheelchair accessible 3’ door. (You can see the bash marked from him scraping the sides of his wheelchair, poor guy.)
Currently, there is a standup shower that needs to be turned into shelves.
The jet tub needs to be turned into a shower surround large enough for him to maneuver inside under his own power safely.
The sink is currently a traditional two-sink vanity that needs to be turned into a suspended sink so that his wheelchair and legs fit under it so he can get closer to the mirror in the sink.
The mirror is too small and too high for him to use very well.
The stool is a traditional residential stool; it needs to be replaced with a taller stool so he can quickly transfer independently.
Installation of grab bars around the shower and the stool area.
The flooring will need to be replaced because the shower walls are no longer there.
Closet doors will need to be replaced for easier access and better organization.

Please help by donating to this cause.

Thank You.
