Hi, my name is Sara and I am fundraising for a less fortunate man I met several weeks ago named John. John was sitting outside of a Starbucks with the few belongings he had, looking for a new home for his pup since he could no longer take care of her and wanted her to have a good home. And we just so happened to meet by fate. John offered his pup to me and at first I politely declined ~ but after seeing how frustrated he was getting turned down by one person after another I decided to re approach him. I sat with him and talked with him for a bit to make sure this was a good decision for both of us. He had been struggling to care for her for quite some time but was doing his best. But said she deserves better. With a tender heart I agreed to take her and give her a forever home. I could see how hard this was for him, and he wept as he handed her over to me, we held hands embracing her leash until he was ready to fully let her go. He did not have a phone at the time but asked if he could have my phone number anyway and could call me from a friend's to see how she is doing later. Of course I said yes and I had no problem doing that and infact wanted to stay intouch with him... and I am so glad I did. After making a simple post on Instagram of Izzy's new life and the story of how I ended up with her, the post went viral~ and John did end up contacting me from a friend's phone and we have been able to loosely stay in touch! I am blown away by the amount of people far and wide touched by this post and wanting to help John too. Something I definitely couldn't do on my own. So I decided to create this fundraiser for John in the hopes we can all come together and help him too... I have set it to $1,000 but maybe we could exceed that together and change his life too, small ripples make big waves. And the power of this community is proving to be strong.
My goal with this post and fundraiser is to spread the love, kindness and pure magic that happened that day. To open people's hearts to helping one another in a time of need. To let go of judgment, be more compassionate towards the less fortunate, break the stigmas of pit- bully breads and encourage pet rescues and adoptions.
If you feel called to donate to this please do so. All funds would go to John, and also Izzy's vet bills as she is not spayed yet and still needs all her shots. You can follow Izzy's and John's stories through updates on my Instagram page @therabbithole_creations
I am so grateful for the amount of love that has already been shown. Thank you all so much, I am excited to see where this journey go's!
