The purpose of this fundraiser is to help our friend, John Holovnia, pay for medical expenses while bouncing back from a battle with an infection that went septic. John spent about a month in the hospital fighting this infection, while undergoing 5 surgeries in his wrists/hands, knees, and ankles. While John is back in his apartment, the illness has left John with many new obstacles to face. Making matters worse, John lost his job due to a slowing economy not long after. He is transitioning into a new career but has had his options limited by his lack of mobility and physical setbacks. Any aid that John may receive will go towards helping with doctor bills, living costs, transportation to P.T., and medication costs. John is in a lot of pain and uses a cane to help aid with walking (a far cry from the sub 6 minute miles I remember him running during fire training), but he is ready to start on the long and difficult path to recovery and with your help maybe we can help get him there a little faster.
