John Hicks and his faithful dog Lucy

Hi, my name is Rachel and I was a longstanding friend of John and his dog Lucy. John unexpectedly passed away earlier this year, and his loving and faithful dog Lucy followed 8 weeks later. I have set up this page to raise some local funds for a remembrance bench and plaque for both John and Lucy, which will be placed in the 'Haven' of Hempland Allotments in Heworth for many people to rest, reminisce and enjoy. An appropriate location, as John spent endless happy Sunday mornings enjoying coffee, cake and great company with all his allotment association and dog walker friends and their dogs. Lucy was also a keen attendant, especially when cake crumbs and doggy treats were on offer! John also had a raised bed in the Haven, where he grew peas, beans, beetroot and Cavolo Nero cabbage annually, so a fitting location.
