John Heart Transplant Journey

To anyone who I’ll be lucky enough to reach through this message, my name is Taylor, I am the stepdaughter of John Paul Cavalieri and daughter of Michele Madrak Cavalieri. Along with loving family members, I hope to gain help through donation and prayers for my amazing stepfather’s heart transplant journey.

John is currently on life support for the expected next few days after battling through his heart transplant surgery on September 6th, 2022. Although feeling so blessed to have come so far and been one of the lucky people to receive such a gift, the fight doesn’t end here.

Backstory on how John got to this day, in 2019, while working at a job site John was shocked by electricity. Being a fully healthy man before this, no one expected to be where we are today. With four children of his own and four more marrying into the family with full intent to be a father to them all, John worked harder than most and married Michele, who has the same family priorities as him. In turn, there is only so much hard work one parent can do while being the support system to her husband. Never-ending hospital stays, calling out of work to be there for her kids and husband and now all these medical bills flooding in with not an end in sight.

Expenses include on the simpler side upwards to $35 a day for Michele to be with him at the hospital for tolls and gas; hospital stay for weeks being in the thousands, and with john about to be upwards of 50+ medications a day for the foreseeable future the copay totaling around $40,000. With John unable to work and six children ages from preschool to high school it’s going to be a tough time.

As the eldest of the children, I will continue to support and do what is needed to help. Including working with my amazing family members to get the word out about John and Michele’s situation as they would NEVER ask for help. However, I’m sure they understand how much love and support is around them through friends and family and kind people wanting to help a great family and will be grateful from the bottom of their hearts for any donation or prayer sent their way.
