Sadly, John Hart passed away on Wednesday 29th March. He had a two-year battle with cancer that he managed to beat. However, a few weeks ago John was admitted to hospital to widen his oesophagus (throat) so that he could eat normally. Previously he was being fed through a tube after his previous cancer complications. The operation did not go well and he developed an infection in his throat, which spread to his lungs and he developed pneumonia. This led to complications and John sadly passed away.

John helped many people in the 40+ years that he was involved in boxing. He coached people all over the UK and Internationally, I cannot even remember how many clubs he has taught at or worked with over the years there are so many. A few examples are Castle Hill, Bolton Lads and Girls Club, Love ABC and Sevenoaks. John worked tirelessly to promote boxing and changed many young lads and girls' lives for the better. He was kind and generous to thousands of people and always went out of his way to help anyone.

It would be nice to give John the send-off that he so dearly deserves. As you can imagine, funerals are not cheap affairs and there are other expenses to take care of such as paperwork and sorting out John's house etc. Hazel and the Court family have always been by John's side for many years and John is part of their family. Hazel has power of eternity, since John's passing and will be arranging his funeral and general affairs. It would be nice if people could make a donation in John's name to cover the funeral and other expenses. Also, one of John's last wishes was, he wanted all of his friends to have a big piss-up after!

If there is any money left over?...We think it would be nice to donate the rest to a children's cancer charity in his name or to sponsor a few boxers that are in financial need.

We have a huge community that benefited from John's giving nature and time, this is our chance to give something back!
