John was diagnosed with melanoma cancer in his bones December 2017. He and his wife Carol went to MD Anderson in Houston Texas February 12, 2018. John had surgery 2 days after he got there to repair his spine and remove a portion of the tumor pressing on the nerves. Since then he was hospitalized for 2 weeks due to after effects of radiation and immunotherapy. When he was finally released they were able to stay in The Rotary House connected via a walkway to MD Anderson. The cost of lodging is very expensive. It is in excess of $4000 per month. They will likely be there for 2 more months. In addition, when they do return home, they will be making frequent trips back to Houston. We are hoping to raise funds to cover housing and travel. 
John is still receiving physical therapy as he is currently in a wheelchair. He is also receiving immunotherapy which is administered monthly. To top it off, his wife Carol fell and broke her kneecap so getting around is really complicated!! They are incurring the lodging expenses everyday they are there. We hope to raise enough quickly to cover the cost. Any funds that might be leftover will help with their portion of the medical expenses.
