September 22, 2025 is a day we will never forget. In the middle of the afternoon, while working at the Bloomsburg Fair, a man we all know and love, suffered from a cardiac arrest. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of John Edward Barnhart III, a man who was the true embodiment of community, service, and family. When you thought of community, you thought of John. He was a loving father, a proud grandfather, a respected leader, and a friend to all.

John’s life was defined by his unwavering commitment to serving others. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a chapter of his life that instilled in him a deep sense of duty and honor. He carried that same dedication into his civilian life, serving his neighbors as a dedicated councilman and tirelessly supporting multiple non-profit organizations. John didn’t just live in his community; he lifted it up.

Above all his accomplishments, John was a devoted family man. He was a guiding light as a father and a source of immense joy as a grandfather. His wisdom, strength, and unconditional love were the cornerstones of his family.

We are all devastated by John’s sudden loss and were not prepared for the financial burden of arranging a memorial service that truly honors the incredible life he lived. He has been involved in so many benefits over the years; now, we are asking for help to lay him to rest. We want to give him the beautiful farewell he deserves, to celebrate his memory and say our last goodbyes.

We humbly ask for support to cover the costs of the funeral and memorial services. All funds raised will go directly toward celebrating John’s legacy and easing the financial strain on his family during this impossibly difficult time. Should there be excess funds, this will be donated to the Masonic Christmas party for kids and the Ronald McDonald House in Danville in his name.

Any contribution, no matter the size, will be a tremendous help. If you are unable to donate, we would be so grateful if you could share this page to help us honor a man who gave so much to so many.

Thank you for your kindness, support, and love.

With immense gratitude,
The Barnhart Family
