John will always be remembered for his larger-than-life personality and HUGE heart. Standing 6'8" tall, he was a big teddy bear who many knew and loved.
A talented Executive Chef and US Army Veteran with 28 years of service to our country, he took great joy in sharing his passion for cooking and feeding the hungry worldwide.
He made countless meals for people from all walks of life from - former President Bill Clinton, Legendary Coach Pete Carroll, the USC Football team, friends, family, neighbors...and even complete strangers would find themselves as recipients of his famed soul food barbecue plates.
John did his very best to provide for his family and extended family, however, a near-fatal car accident left him "uninsurable" in 2001. This GoFundMe account is being set up to help pay for his final expenses including a funeral service in approximately 10 days.
Funds are being managed by his eldest son, John Walker III. Any funds in excess of the funeral expenses will be allocated toward the care of Big John's 10-year-old son, Elijah Walker.
We thank you for your contribution, thoughts, and prayers which are all greatly needed and deeply appreciated.
