Remembering John Carter

Growing up with John Carter Gulliver was always interesting. When he was born he was diagnosed with Shone's Complex (a rare congenital heart disease), and he also only had one functional lung. He had a surgery at 5 days old, various other procedures and hospitalizations in the following years, and open heart surgery when he was 15. Recently he has not been feeling well and was getting out of breath after walking short distances. He wasn't even able to ride four wheeler anymore (except to get from point A to point B at work to avoid walking) because it was too strenuous for him. Anyone who knows John knows that riding four wheeler is just part of who he is, so he had to have been feeling pretty bad. He was scheduled to have a procedure done in January to look into why he has been feeling so bad and how to fix it. Leading up to this procedure he had been working 60+ hours a week to take care of his wife and their 2 children and to get their finances in order so he could afford to be out of work.
Unfortunately he did not last until January. On December 17th, 2019 John Carter went into cardiac arrest at work. He was unresponsive and had to have CPR as well as the defibrillator twice. They were able to bring him back and then stabilize him to transport him to Auburn Community. He was not in good enough shape to be brought directly to Syracuse. Auburn Community and their team did a great job stabilizing him further so he could transfer to Upstate. He is currently on the Cardiopulmonary ICU unit where a whole team of doctors and nurses continue to take great care of him. At this point I can't tell you what will happen. He is in God's hands as to whether he will recover from this. They have him paralyzed and are giving him medication to help his heart pump and he is on the ventilator.
John Carter would probably be upset that we are starting this for him, but they need all the help they can get. He has health insurance but he is still paying all of the copays and bills from the last ICU trip 3 years ago. Jessica and the girls will need money to survive while all of this is going on. He is one of the hardest working people I have ever known and does so without complaining that he felt so sick. Please consider donating to help his wife and children as well as offset all of the costs they are racking up while he stays here in the hospital. Last time it was tens of thousands of dollars.
Thank you all for your continued prayers. Please keep praying for him and thank you for sharing!!
