It is with a heavy heart that I'm creating this to help support my sister, Lorelyn, due to the sudden and unfortunate passing of her husband, John Jabier.
John was an amazing father to his children (Josh, Jacob, and Julia) and the most loyal husband to his wife, Lorelyn. Not only did he care for them, but he also cared for and essentially raised me as one of his own since 2001. He always put his family first, working tirelessly as the sole breadwinner of the household, and never once complained. His work ethic, determination, and love for his family was unmatched and admired by many. He could always make you laugh regardless of the situation, and was a friend and brother to anyone that came across his way. His positive approach toward life accompanied with all the advice he provided to myself and many others has made a significant impact on all of us.
On April 12th, 2022, our family lost Jacob, John and Lorelyn's middle child, after a 6-year-long battle with brain cancer. Since then, John and Lorelyn had visited Jacob nearly every single day to spend time with their son and pray for him. Before John passed, he mentioned that his heart was split into two when we lost Jacob.
Less than a year later, on March 30th, 2023, tragedy struck again as Lorelyn's father, Loreto, whom John had also been supporting ever since he had moved to the US in 2011, suddenly passed due to another form of brain cancer. John loved "Tay", as he would call him, as if Loreto was his own father.
On December 31st, 2023, John was admitted into the ER and spent New Year's there with Lorelyn. In the scan, a mass was found next to his heart, which was the same size if not bigger than his heart itself. Through the entire situation, John was still making us laugh, and reassuring everyone, especially Lorelyn, that this was just temporary and that he will get better, go home, and even watch the Super Bowl in Las Vegas (he was always a diehard 49ers fan). Despite John's unwavering spirit to keep on going, his physical heart could no longer persist. John passed away on February 1st, 2024.
In a span of 2 years, the household has gone from 6 family members to 3. Lorelyn, Josh, and Julia are left to carry on the memory of Jacob, Loreto, and now John. Lorelyn has not worked since Jacob was diagnosed in 2016 so that she could care for her son and the family. As for her kids, Josh is still pursuing his degree at Academy of Art University and Julia is only in 5th grade. We are looking to help provide them with any financial support possible.
Thank you so much for reading and we appreciate all your love, support, and generosity to our family during this difficult time.
