Thank you to all of those family members and friends of the family of John Calvin Young that have contributed to date. On Saturday December 22, 2018 John Young’s body was laid to rest in a rejoiceful celebration of his life in Pensacola, Florida. The same Escambia County of Pensacola, Florida where John was shot and killed by a number of Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies in the dark early morning hours of December 1, 2018.
That fateful morning still in the darkness of night, it is said that a call was made notifying the authorities of a crime that was committed at the residence of John involving the murder of someone. This storyline is hearsay, and to date, more than a month after John C. Young was shot and killed by those people charged to “protect and serve” the citizens of Escambia County the family has yet to hear the 911 call, or review any proof that anything being claimed by the officers actually occurred. It is painful to think that John’s body was filled with an excessive amount of bullets due to his being awoken somewhere around 4am groggy and half asleep wondering who would be banging on his door at such an hour - in the middle of what could be described as the hood.
The family believes that John never had a chance. We all know, and hear the same story from incidents similar to this across the country over and over again. The officers feared for their life, the victim was the aggressor and seemed possessed like a monster, he attacked us continuously with brute force, etc. etc. etc. The supposed attack with the fictitious meat-cleaver was such a failure that there was reportedly no injury to any of the officers present that chaotic morning. However, John likely fell to his knees and keeled over as he bled-out on the front stoop of his home.
We, the family of John Young are entering a new phase of this untimely occurrence. If John had killed or maimed a law enforcement officer we would have his entire life story be public knowledge, and every negative thing that he as an individual had ever done published to persecute him in the mind of the public, and Americans abroad. How is it that there were a group of officers that shot and killed what we believe to be an innocent 65 year-old man over one month ago, and not one detail corroborating the account of the officers account has been proven. As a matter of fact these individuals are likely on modified duty, still being paid with taxpayer funds likely hunting, fishing, or playing with their children, as John lays cold in the ground. An investigation would occur in both instances, but this is beginning to feel like a cover-up, like the many that the American public has seen across the country involving the untimely murder of other Black people, and Americans in general at the hands of law enforcement.
We respectfully request your financial support again, as we engage legal and forensic professionals to help us understand what happened that dark morning. Every penny that you donate will be used to further the cause, making sure that the unfettered truth is exposed, and that those who made the decision to unnecessary end the life of John Young, the grandfather, the father, the brother, the uncle, the cousin, and the friend to so many answer to, and have their innocence weighed by the scales of justice - something that they did not give John the opportunity to do. This is going to be a long road with plenty of bureaucratic blockades, and we the family of John Young need your prayers, and financial support to help make sure that this EPIDEMIC of Black murder is shuttered, and will no longer be the phenomenon that it has become across this great nation.
