This is the hardest thing for me to do, but I appreciate you taking some time to read this.

The past few years have been a struggle. I was diagnosed with chronic diverticulosis following 2 difficult acute diverticulitis attacks in 2019. While I have been able to maintain a fairly normal life and routine after modifying my diet and activities, the condition has always been there. Occasionally the discomfort and pain would result in missed work and definitely affected my family as you can imagine.

Quite unexpectedly I was admitted to the hospital after a bad diverticulitis attack in November, and was informed that I would need surgery to remove a portion of my colon. The damage now included a perforation. After healing up as best as possible we met with a surgery team in January. Scheduling and availabilities caused us to have to wait a bit for the procedure.

The surgery was performed in late March 2023, and so far I am healing well and I am finally able to eat like a human again.

My family and I prepared as much as we could leading up to my time out of work, but what we weren't able to work out is the delays. The added time waiting and then healing up have over-extended us financially. We adjusted all we could, but our resources could only go so far.

Again, I do not like being in this situation. I would imagine I am not the only one who feels embarrassed by asking for help. Thank you for taking these few minutes to read this, and in advance I thank you from the bottom of my very being if you find it in your heart to help us however you can.
