John Bulach taught me my first song on the guitar way back in Junior High. Forty five years later, we are closer than ever. John is an exceptionally caring friend, always someone you can talk to, always willing to help in any way that he can. Alas, John needs our help. John recently underwent emergency surgery on his back, as several crushed disks were impinging on his spine, paralyzing him. The surgery was successful, and John is learning to walk again, rebuilding his strength. He will soon be leaving the rehab and returning home to continue his recovery.
John's recovery will be a long road, however, and it will be expensive as well. With back troubles as severe as these, John requires some modifications to the entrance to his house to permit him to get in and out (note that the labor is being donated by a very qualified friend in the construction industry - if you need this type of work done, please inquire - WV only). He will also require physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nursing services in-home for several months. As if his recovery and pain was not stressful enough, this occurs at a time when he and Deborah will inevitably lose their insurance coverage, with no promise of much advance notice. John has been unable to work since his heart attack and cancer surgery / treatment three years ago. Deborah has been out of work due to the COVID-19 crisis, and will be unable to return due to disability. The bills have been mounting: rent, food, utilities. Soon, COBRA may be added to the list. Worst of all are the intangibles, those surprises that could come from just about anywhere.
John and Deborah fight like the dickens not to have to ask for help. They have received a wheelchair and a hospital bed from their insurance, and they have applied for assistance from the applicable social services, but it is a bureaucratic nightmare, can take way too long, will provide way too little, or they may not qualify for any of umpteen reasons. They have nowhere else to turn.
So please, take a few moments, and donate what you can to help out an old friend, one who has always been there for us. It would truly be appreciated.
