Dear Family and Friends,
My dad, John, along with my mom Lucia and brother Alex were involved in a car accident on the way back home from Florida on 5/30/2020.
The car that was involved t-boned their car and hit the passenger side the most. My dad, while he was wearing his seat belt, had sustained the most injuries. Due to going in and out of consciousness and complaining of chest pain, he was life-flighted in a helicopter to the nearest trauma center. My mom was taken with the ambulance and Alex,other than being pretty shook up seemed to be visibly OK.
While mom was in the ER they ran some tests and thankfully did not find anything physically wrong with her other than a cut on her forehead. She will need chiropractic care from the aftermath of the accident but thanking God that it wasn't much worse.
After many tests done (MRIs, CTs etc) they concluded that dad had several broken ribs, a broken arm which they did surgery on, a broken pelvic bone, lacerations to the liver and fluid in his lungs. My dad is battling Parkinsons so he already had other battles that he had to deal with, and this accident only added more pain to an already hard life of battling this disease.
Anyone who knows my dad, knows that he is the kindest, sweetest, most giving person they know almost to a fault. He will give you the clothes off his back if he needs to.
This accident unfortunately has made it even harder on them financially due to my parents not having health insurance. (Existing Parkinsons diagnosis costs a fortune in insurance premiums and it's normally cheaper for them to pay out of pocket for medication.)
So we are asking for help. This accident has hit my family hard and unfortunately this is just the beginning for them. They will have to be in the hospital at least a week if not more, they are in a different state and I know that the doctor bills will be piling for them.
