Ever heard of Odyssey of the Mind (OOTM)? It is a challenging, exciting, global program that has become the largest problem solving competition in the WORLD!
OOTM was first created in 1978 and, over the years, has grown to become an international educational program whose mission is to provide creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. By working through open-ended problems, students develop their creativity and teamwork skills that can be applied to real-life situations and cultivated througout their academic and professional lives.
Millions of kids have been working hard all year perfecting their solutions to OOTM problems and competing within their geographies. In early March, District competitions were held, with top winners competing in State finals a few weeks later.
Next month, May 24-27, Michigan State University will host 825 teams, including participants from over 25 countries around the world, at the 38th annual OOTM World Finals!
And, here is where we come in! Our six talented, creative and energetic girls from John Baldwin Elementary - Mikayla, Ellie, Kyla, Catie, Olivia & Charlotte - have blown the competition away!! They beat out teams at the District and State levels to make it all the way to the World Finals!
The team wowed the judges with their creative spark, humor-filled performances and spontaneous problem solving abilities. They are thrilled to be among a handful of teams representing the great State of California and are excited for the priviledge to experience the World Finals first-hand! And, they have the incredible honor of being the first team at John Baldwin Elementary to make it all the way to the World Finals!
There's just one big problem we still need to solve.... raising enough money to cover travel and competition expenses to get the girls to Michigan! Won't you please support our girls' adventure to Michigan? Your donation - no matter how big or small - will make a difference!
