Hi, I am Teresa, mother to John Anderhalt. My son, John, passed away suddenly last week. He was only 44 years old.

John loved his kids more than anything else in his life. You probably saw him with his kids at any number of local events — playgrounds, amusement parks, festivals, sporting events, concerts — John was all about the activities!

He was a die hard fan of sports, but loved the Bills and Sabres most of all. He was very funny, had a wicked sense of humor and loved a good practical joke. John could spark a conversation with anyone and once that happened, you were his friend for life. He met and became close to many people through the years as a cook at a number of Greek restaurants over the past 20 years. Alton’s, Acropolis, Olympic, Hillview but was at Athens on Harlem for the last 10+ years.

I am working hard to make sure that his kids are able to give him a send off that feels appropriate, but I'm struggling to make that happen. I live on the West coast these days and will be traveling to Buffalo to give him a proper funeral. This is why I am reaching out. I'm a retired senior citizen and while I'd like to do this for my son, I have meager savings, and the funeral costs continue to add up.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on October 26, from 3-6pm with a prayer service to follow. It will be at Perna, Dengler, Roberts Funeral Home on Maple Road in Williamsville. All are welcome.
