John and Kristi Endres - Hurricane Ian

Hi! I’m one of John’s daughters, Ashlee. The impact of Hurricane Ian has been devastating!! It’s absolutely heartbreaking to see all of the destruction it has caused!!

Like soo many others, Dad and Kristi decided not to evacuate. Ian was supposed to hit 130 miles North of Fort Myers, so they thought this would be like the several other Hurricanes they’ve experienced. As we all know, Ian turned and hit them head on.

They attempted to leave when the water started to enter their home. They drove about a mile before they were hit by the rapid-rising storm surge. The truck flooded within a couple minutes. All of the electrical components were ruined so they escaped out the back window. Kristi stood in the bed of the truck with the dog and cat, while Dad stood on the side of the truck. They were trapped there for several hours in the 150mph wind and rain. After the storm slightly settled and flood water receded, they walked back to their house. Their house had completely flooded and everything was ruined. They obviously knew they couldn’t stay there. Their phones were ruined so they couldn’t call anyone. Eventually they were able to flag down someone driving by and get a ride to a shelter. 

We are so very thankful they are safe but they have lost EVERYTHING!! They have no phones, no vehicles and no home! 

Many people have asked how they can help. So we are grateful of any donations to assist Dad and Kristi with food, shelter and transportation over the next several days to weeks. We appreciate the continued support and well wishes, not only for them but for all our family and friends affected. My mom and Aubree were very lucky to only have minimal damage to their property. Any funds not used, will go to another family in Ft Myers/Cape Coral impaired by Hurricane Ian.
