John & Casey Downham Paradise Fire

My family and I have called Paradise, CA, home for my entire life. The recent fire has taken everything from my parents, John and Casey Downham. With only minutes to spare, they were lucky enough to make it out of the flames surrounding our neighborhood with one vehicle and their little dog Lucy. Thankfully, they are both safe but were unfortunately unable to grab necessary clothing, toiletries, and everyday items.

John and Casey have completely lost their family-run business, the Martial Arts Dojo which has promoted self- development, Kenpo karate training, and served the Paradise community for over 25 years. They are now left without their home, business, and carry only remnants of their everyday lives.

I would like to especially thank Michael Winslow’s family, Cailin, and Gim for their generous donations and for encouraging my parents to set up a Venmo account (@John-Downham).


Insurance payments can take months to process and it will be a long road to rebuild the community. At this time, I would like to humbly extend a request to you on behalf of my parents. They are in need of basic items and even the smallest donation will go a long way. It is my hope that your contributions will help the healing process begin.
