John (6 y.o.) is Fighting B Cell Leukemia

On May 24th, exactly 1 month prior to his 7th birthday, John was diagnosed with B Cell Leukemia and is currently receiving treatment in Tampa, Florida. John is an identical twin born prematurely by 2 months, so he has battled his life to grow and be normal. John is a happy and active child, but leukemia has stolen his life, laughter, and ability to play, swim, or be with others. John loves nothing more than bringing a smile to everyone's face and he can light up a room with his smile or laugh. Unfortunately, John missed the last week of school and with his illness, before diagnosis, John was unable to participate in his activities or school events. John is facing a long and hard battle ahead for two years or more. For up to two years John will have to avoid crowds and places he loves, such as Legoland, the park, and anything indoors. This adjustment will require that John be isolated and we are trying to make John feel good, pay for new activities, and to adjust life. We must travel extensively for treatment and pay for John's care. John must travel 50 miles each way 4x weekly for chemo and has undergone 7 procedures and looking at many more. John is unable to attend school now and must be enrolled in homebound education, requiring full-time care and supervision. This means that One parent must stop working until John is able to return to school. While our income dropped by 75 percent, our expenses have risen by 50 percent. Due to covid and inflation most services have been overwhelmed, closed, or simply have run out of funds. In order for John to recover we must focus on getting him the right help.
