Disneyland Trip for Katheryn’s Boys
Donation protected

Katheryn spent 25 days in intensive care before she was moved to rehabilitation. She is now undergoing intensive physical therapy to regain her ability to speak and walk. Doctors are hopeful that she will make a full recovery, but she won't be able to return home for an extended period of time. She is a single parent who worked 2 jobs, 16 hours per day, to make ends meet for her and her two boys, aged 11 and 15. She is the mom AND the dad for her boys. Despite her work schedule Katheryn always made time for their events and activities, most importantly, making sure they were plugged into their church community.
Jesus does not promise us perfect health or riches, but He does promise to provide for us. Jesus promises to provide for Katheryn and her children. That is why we chose to bless Katheryn and her sons this year. When the family was initially suggested, I loved the idea but I was not 100% convinced. Kevin and my initial vision for The Hunny Pot was to support families of children with special needs and life threatening conditions
Kevin and I began The Hunny Pot in memory of our daughter, Johanna, who died suddenly from meningitis on August 30, 2017, at just 17 months old. After Johanna went to Heaven, Kevin made the suggestion that we send a family to Disneyland in memory of her. Some of our favorite memories with Johanna are when we took her there at 13 months old on an impromptu Mother's Day Trip to meet her beloved Winnie-the-Pooh. We questioned taking her at such a young age and now we are grateful that we experienced Disney with Johanna during her short time on earth.
Last year, we sent our inaugural family, the Denny's, to Disneyland thanks to the generous donations and support from our community. As we approach Johanna's third birthday I mourn the loss of a birthday party, a big sister to our new daughter, Liberty; and wonder what life would be like with an independent and goofy towheaded toddler. I am grateful to Jesus for keeping my tears and carrying my load.
Recently, my pastor announced an event at our church and commented that there are single mothers in our church who would love for a male to step-up and attend this event with their children. It spoke to my heart. Katheryn’s boys are in need of a little extra love and attention during this season in their lives. What a blessing it is for us to have the opportunity to bless them.
Let’s be Jesus’ hands and surprise Katheryn’s children with a trip to Disneyland, along with a male chaperone who has been a pastor, mentor, and father figure in their life. We are positive that this will be a blessing to Katheryn just as much as it will be a blessing to her boys. Kevin and I know first-hand, that during difficult times the love of a community is held close. Not only will the boys enjoy some fun and pampering, they will also know that a community who loves and supports them made it possible.
Like last year, this will be a surprise for the boys and revealed to them with a party.
In addition to your generous financial support, please join us in praying for healing for Katheryn!
"Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks with compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Christ has no body now on earth but yours." Teresa of Avila
