Trail Improvements!

Hello! We are the Association of Northern Trails Scotland (SC049061) and we are committed to making the John o' Groats safer, more accessible and even more spectacular for everyone!

However, there is a 147 miles of stunning Scottish coastline to cover - and this means a lot of time, effort and money. We're a really small organisation with just one employee, so anything you're able to donate really helps!

Our two main areas of Trail improvements fall under:

1. Vegetation control in the summer:

Cutting the weeds, especially bracken, is especially important in the summer months July and August. This will involve miles of trimming, in some places 2 or 3 times a year. Any donation you make will help us keep the trail fun and walkable! An extra £20 will keep about 100 metres of the trail open for several weeks.

2. Trail infrastructure, such as bridges, stiles and boardwalks

The Trail passes through some of the most gorgeous coastal scenery - but these dramatic views mean we have some dramatic landscapes to traverse! So, there areas which are wet and boggy, or are cut through by burns (streams).

In order to ensure that the Trail is navigable, we need to constantly monitor the land, and ensure that any areas are safe to tread, and have the necessary Trail infrastructure to keep them accessible. This is particularly important in winter, after the stormy season, which can wash away entire bridges!

If you'd like to donate towards any of these, then we'd be so grateful - and know that your donations make a huge difference to our lovely Trail.

Thank you so much in advance.
