John O’Groats to Land’s End – Walking the Length of the UK for Charity

Hi, my name is Chris. A family man from Kent and this spring I’m taking on one of the biggest challenges of my life, walking from John O’Groats to Land’s End, covering over 950 miles over ~35 consecutive days, averaging roughly 30 miles every single day.
You may think I’m mad (and you’d probably be right), but here’s why I’m doing this…

Why I’m Doing This….
I recently made the decision to take a career break to reset, refocus, and invest more time in my wellbeing. This challenge is part of that journey. I’ve always tried to stay active, knowing how important movement and physical activity are for my mental health, but this will be my biggest challenge yet. While pushing myself both physically and mentally will be tough, taking on an extreme challenge like this while giving back to charity is something I’ve always wanted to do, and now I finally have the opportunity to make it happen.

Charities
Mental health affects so many people, which is why I’ve chosen to support The Ricky Hatton Foundation, a charity focused on raising awareness, breaking stigma, and helping people feel supported through sport and community programmes.
I’ve also chosen to support Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). I’m lucky enough not to have needed their care personally, but as a parent of three amazing kids, I have huge respect for the life-changing work they do for children and families facing the toughest circumstances imaginable.

The Challenge
This will be a fully self-supported walk, meaning:
I’ll be carrying my own kit
Managing my own food and recovery
Walking day after day regardless of weather
Tracking progress via GPS
Sharing updates along the route, the route is at the very bottom of this story.

How Your Support Helps
This challenge isn’t cheap and accommodation, food, logistics and safety costs add up quickly over nearly 30 days on the road.
To keep costs low and maximise donations, I’ll be camping most nights, with occasional budget accommodation where needed for safety and recovery. Funds raised through this GoFundMe will help cover essential costs like food, campsite fees and basic logistics, with remaining funds going directly to the charities. I’m personally funding most of the main equipment.
Once essential expenses are covered, all funds will be donated directly to:
• The Ricky Hatton Foundation
• Great Ormond Street Hospital
Transparency is important to me, and I want everyone supporting this to know exactly how funds are being used.

How Else You Can Help
I’m welcoming support from local businesses and brands who would like to be part of this challenge. Whether through equipment, advice, or logistical support, any involvement helps make the journey safer and more achievable while increasing the amount raised for charity. If you’d like to get involved, I’d love to hear from you.
If you’re a friend, family member, or supporter and can help in other ways, it would mean a huge amount:
Accommodation - If you live anywhere along the route and could offer a spare room for a night, this massively reduces costs and boosts morale.
Gear Support - If you have any walking, outdoor, or endurance gear you’re not using (or are happy to lend), or advice from similar challenges, I’d be hugely grateful.
Spread the word - Please share this story and link

Final Words
This walk is about pushing limits, raising awareness, supporting two incredible charities, and proving to myself that difficult periods in life can lead to positive action.
Whether you donate, share this page (please share), send encouragement, or simply follow along I thank you for being part of the journey. I’ll also be setting up an Instagram page for more updates on the training, fund raising and then the final JOGLE adventure
Every mile matters. Every donation matters. Every message helps more than you know.
