Joseph Myers’s is only 13 and has been recently diagnosed with a Chordoma. A chordoma is rare type of bone cancer/tumor that forms at the base of the skull or spine. Joey's tumor was located on his brain stem and was in a very complex location. I am updating this since Joey first found out on 2/14/2024. On 4/3/2024 Joey spent over 12 hours in the OR having this tumor removed and then on 4/4/24 had to go back to the OR to remove even more residual tumor they found on the post operative scans. On 4/10/24 Joey was in the OR again as he developed a CSF leak and needed to have a drain placed in his head. The doctors at that time told us to prepare as he may have to return to the OR again. The upcoming weeks and months will be filled with a lot of time away from home filled with appointments, testing, and scans. The Myers Family will continue to need all the support in the upcoming months as the neurosurgeon/team is located in Pittsburgh, PA and the family has lost work time, has to travel and pay for lodging to just name a few things. The loss of income has had a significant impact on the family and their finances. We are creating this Go Fund Me to be able to support Joey and his family during this time so they can provide the best care possible for Joey and his journey.
