UPDATE: we received terrible news yesterday that Joeys liver levels increased from 1500 to 1900. Normal level is 100-200. He stayed in the hospital again last night and they let us transfer him to our vet today to save some costs. We have been waiting for the call all day regarding his blood work to find out if is liver levels have gotten worse. We just found out his level has decreased to almost 1000!!!!! We are celebrating any ounce of good news! Although it’s still extremely high, it’s a good sign that it’s decreasing! We may even get to bring him home tonight! Thank you, thank you for your donations, support and prayers. This experience has been awful but we feel so lucky to have the support we have and our family has gotten so much closer to God. We still have a long journey ahead but we will keep the faith and hope that our boy will fight and survive! We will post more as we know!

Our sweet Joey is only 1 year old and decided to snack on an entire pack of sugar free gum. We got home from picking the girls up to find him weak, barely able to breathe, falling over and in a terrible state. Matt had to carry our 90 pound dog to the car and rush him to the vet. On the way to the vet, Joey had a terrible seizure. Once at the vet, they confirmed he has Xylitol poisoning (our worst nightmare). We hate to be in a financial position where we cannot afford to give him a chance to be alive. Our hearts are breaking and we made the decision (even though we have go guaranteed outcome), to keep him overnight. Just to keep him one night is $4,000 and they don’t know how many days (if there are multiple) he will be there. The doctors don’t know what the outcome will be or if his liver will survive this, but we have to give our Joey boy a chance. We just had to put other other doggy, Payton, down last March and cannot endure another loss. We will spend any amount necessary to give Joey a chance so please, please, any dollar amount to donate would be greatly appreciated. Our hearts will be forever grateful for you.
