From the Ground Up Rebuilding Nepal
The focus of this money will now be going toward another family struck by the earthquake in Nepal as part of the work of "From the Ground Up", the foundation Mitchell Wehbe (brother) and I will be teaming up with in Nepal as we attempt to help them rebuild the earthquake torn village of Ghumarichowk. This family is currently sleeping literally on top of each other in a tin shelter, in the same room as their goats as this is the only livelihood they have. Any decent person can recognise that it is not acceptable for other human beings to be living in such conditions.
As a bit of background, the organisation 'From the Ground Up' began with a friend of mine, an apprentice carpenter Nick Abraham going over to Nepal initially on his own to begin rebuilding this village. Since then he has teamed up with some local architects in Nepal and started this more formal organisation to do some great work in a beautiful part of the world that has had some short luck of late, to say the least. My brother and I will be heading over in a couple of weeks, and the $3k will be able to fully build a new home for this one particular family.
Back in my schooling days I was in a house called MacKillop house... we used to come last in all the athletics and swimming carnivals etc. so it wasn't always fun. But the patron of my house, good old Mezza MacKillop had a saying that I think applies well to all aspects of life, whether you're religious or not.
"Never see a need without doing something about it"
That's exactly what Nick and his associates are doing. They'd love to have more volunteers, and anyone interested in doing so should go to their website http://www.fromthegroundupfoundation.com/ But not everyone has the means to volunteer, and so actively doing something can include donating a nominal amount, as small as $20 or $10 dollars or anything you can spare.
Every little bit counts ! Thanks so much guys !
