Joey Stamps ALS Life Saving Treatment
Donazione protetta
My name is Savannah Stamps, I am the wife of Joey Stamps. On October 10th, 2022, my husband was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. It was the worst case scenario diagnosis. After going in with what we thought was bad carpel tunnel, to months of advocating, MRIs, test upon test at OHSU, and in the end hoping for MS or Parkinson’s; we received the answer we were most scared of. ALS is most often terminal within 1-3 years of diagnosis.
Instead of drowning in sorrow and settling into a terminal diagnosis, we remained positive, optimistic and focused on finding a solution of sorts. I dove into researching how I was going to keep my husband from dying. I had already watched someone I loved die of this horrible and very enigmatic disease 15 years prior. Through hours of research, reading, emailing scientists, hours and hours on ALSuntangled.com; I found some serious semi-solutions and some financially unachievable resources to save my husbands life.
The number one scientifically proven way to beat/hold this thing back, above all others, is stem cell treatment at Geostar. Which for the treatment Joey needs is between $30,000-$50,000. But finding the right stem cells to do the job is more difficult than funding this. We needed to find a donor from life, someone who would donate their brand new babies umbilical cord to save them. That was the best and only option for him to live a full and mostly mobile life. Finding a donor was going to be very difficult, if even possible.
3 months ago our daughter found out she was pregnant, 5 1/2 months to be exact through a birth control mix up that turned into a miracle on multiple levels for our whole family. So around the first of the year we will have a sweet grand baby and Joey will have the cord cells given to him by his step daughter with so much love. Our first grand daughter who will fill
our lives with so much love and joy, will also help save her PawPaw’s life. But we need financial help to pull off this miracle.
Anything you can give will help get us to our goal of helping save Joeys life through the stem cell program offered at Geostar, which is not covered by our insurance despite how much we have advocated for it. We thank you all from the bottoms of our hearts, it took a lot of courage and wrestling with our pride to finally make a go fund me.
So much love and light,
Savannah and Joey Stamps
