Joey Maccarrone Jr

Hi, My name is Jeannie McBride, and I am a long-time family friend of the Maccarrone family. If you know the Maccarrone family, Karla has been a single parent providing for her four children for the last 20 years, including the youngest child, who has cerebral palsy. I have decided to do a fundraiser for Joey, now 24 years old. He lost his job due to covid in October 2020. December 2020, he was diagnosed with a rare eye disease called keratoconus. Keratoconus is when your eye is shaped like a football instead of round. He had surgery in February 2021 to halt the progression of the disease. Since his surgery, he has had no vision in his eye. He has been to Wills Eye Hospital and Northwell Eye in Manhattan. Joey has developed medical issues surrounding the disease in his eye, including excruciating eye pain, nausea, vomiting, and debilitating migraines daily from his loss of sight, and the list goes on. Since surgery, he has been unable to drive and has become dependent on his family. With the loss of vision insurance at 22, the medical coverage has been utilized for anything covered under the plan. He now needs a unique lens for both eyes, so it can at least give him some vision. Then he will need special glasses to wear on top of the lens to provide him with the closest and best possible image. Neither are covered under medical insurance. This fundraiser is for the continuous medical treatment for Joey to be able to gain some vision back as well as future medical bills as they have been accumulating over the last year and a half. UPDATE: Thank you, everyone, for your support in helping Joey. Please keep sharing this so Joey can hopefully get the treatment that he deserves. His medical bills are continuing to rise. He still has his entire life ahead of him, and I want to see him living life again instead of always being ill.
