Joey Golden Retriever’s Vet Fees

Joey, the 3 year old Golden Retriever who comes to us , has recently suffered a horrific road traffic accident. When out on a Sunday walk, he saw a “something” and made a dash for it… ultimately in to a road and getting swiped by a passing car.

The driver, also a dog owner, was amazing and helped Lucy and Matt get Joey to their car so they could get him to the vets.

The care he received was amazing and their pet insurance company really helpful. Joey is now home and on the mend but he will have sustained long term damage.

Joey required 3 operations, painkillers, 24 hour monitoring and ultimately a stay in a specialist vets for nearly 3 weeks. ❤️‍

Whilst sensibly insured for a hefty sum, the care Joey needed was expensive. Their insurance was exhausted in the first 5 days of his care, BEFORE they’d even started operations.

Thankfully this lovely couple had been saving for their wedding so were able to fund his operations and after care with these savings.

Joey’s parents had done all the right things by being insured, he was well trained and normally his recall was pretty perfect but….‍♀️

Having mentioned all of this to some of Reggie’s Place pet parents, they asked if they might be able to contribute a little something towards his care. I checked with Lucy and Matt were really touched that people had thought of this. ☺️
