Joey gets the treatment he deserves!

I have started this Go Fund Me to raise money for my son, Joey to undergo private treatment within a hospital based in London.

Joey is almost 7 years old and weighs only 14kg. He was born with several severe health issues and due to these, has suffered intermittently for the last 7 years with problems relating to vomiting and impacted bowels. The NHS have failed him several times, including twisting his bowel during surgery. He had an operation called a fundoplication which essentially ties his stomach closed in order to stop him aspirating his own milk into his lungs. He is 100% tube fed.

I have exhausted all avenues in regards to pleading for help from both NHSL and NHSGG&C to no avail. The NHS have told me that they don’t see any problems with his weight currently – he weighs only 2 stone at nearly 7 years old! He is consistently losing weight and living in constant pain, at one point he asked me to “get the doctor to cut my stomach and make me better” he has absolutely no quality of life, he should be thriving but instead he is suffering 24/7.

I have already been to a private consultation here in Scotland but unfortunately, the Consultant works alongside Joey’s current NHS Consultant and matters didn’t progress very far here. I have also requested on several occasions for a second opinion on Joey’s care but this has been declined. I hit constant brick walls simply requesting for my son to have the care he deserves.

After researching, I have now found a private clinician within London who is willing to see my son and carry out various tests and potential procedures to hopefully, finally get to the bottom of what is causing my boy so much pain and suffering. I ask please if you have anything to spare to help us get Joey to London and get him better and let him get on with his life and be able to play with his friends and family without being in constant agony and suffering.
