Joey Call's Heart Treatment

Our brother Joey has a bad heart. He has been told that he does not have long to live. There is no treatment for his condition in the United States. He has been accepted for a breakthrough stem cell therapy treatment available overseas, but has to come up with the cost of $25,000 out of pocket. This Christmas, we are hoping to raise funds to help save Joey’s life. Growing up with a brother like Joey... let’s just say... life was never dull. Mother used to always say “the boy must have nine lives!” Ironically, he has needed all of them. Full of life and spunk, he never disappoints when it comes to adding color to an otherwise gray world. He’s the kind of human that brightens a room the moment he steps into it. I can’t say this without enough emphasis... this man has got heart! Unfortunately, this same heart is severely damaged and he is in heart failure. Walking up a simple flight of stairs is now an event full of compromise and concern. Finding out about his heart condition came about suddenly, changing the tilt of earth’s orbit literally overnight for us. He seems to wear his worry well and keeps most of his despair to himself, if indeed he feels it. He just hasn’t been given much time to live. At only 44 years old, Joey may well be on his way to cashing in on his 9th claim of his 9 lives... but he’s going to try again to stay with us. There is a new stem cell treatment not yet available for Doctors in the USA, (they are actively fighting to bring it here) but it is known to be highly effective in treating heart damage like Joey’s and extending life. His hope is to get this treatment in January, just a few weeks from now. Unfortunately, his insurance doesn’t cover the treatment. Dear friends, trust me when I say, Joey has beaten the odds before, and if anyone can do it again it would be him. He has a truly indomitable spirit with the heart of a lion. We hope you will join with us to help him make his way forward to a new life where simple wishes come true.... like watching his brilliant little girl graduate high school, or helping his son learn to drive a car for the first time. Small, simple, wonderful little wishes most of us might take for granted. This is what it’s all about, a cause worth contributing to. If you can’t contribute... we understand!
