As most of you know, Joey was in a horrible accident traveling home from work Friday afternoon (October 16th). So many people love Joey and a lot of people are calling and checking in so we wanted to share the latest updates and help any way we can. Our guy is fighting and getting better everyday. Thanks for all the calls and support. Please pray for strength for him and his parents and his beautiful baby girl.
*Update as of October 18th*
We just had a steady stream of doctors coming to check him and give us updates. The heart doctor said he is doing really well. He reiterated that most injuries like this don’t make it to the hospital. But not only is Joey’s heart repair doing great his bruised lungs have made a dramatic improvement since yesterday. He said that was unusual because lung injuries usually get worse the first couple of days before they get better. He is breathing well enough that they are planning to remove the ventilator tube this afternoon if nothing causes a setback. He is waking up more because they are cutting back on his sedation but when he wakes up he is in a lot of pain and I think he is scared because he doesn’t know where he is or what happened.
He is making great progress and so far everything looks good but they keep telling us it is going to be a long recovery. But also he should have a total recovery if everything continues as it is going now.
