I'm a 49 year old father of 3 wonderful daughters and 3 beautiful grandchildren. My oldest daughter is a gastric cancer survivor who at 20 years old, endured having her stomach removed, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Thankfully, she's been cured. The photo is us dancing at her wedding last fall. We've learned that her cancer was caused by a genetic mutation that she inherited from me. I'm about to undergo complete removal of my stomach just as she did as well as possible other therapy.  The financial burdens of the past few years nearly bankrupted our family and now we are in even a worse position to handle things with me being sick. I just lost my job. I had informed my bosses about my health concerns just a week or so prior to my termination. It was unjustified.  We'd already been living paycheck to paycheck, every extra dollar going to digging ourselves out of debt and now I've lost my health insurance and my income and can't even cover the COBRA payment to extend my coverage through the end of the month. My ethics prohibit me from hiding my health issues from prospective employers during interviews and while I've had offers, all of them are hinging on the outcome of my upcoming exam & biopsy. Despite my extensive experience and reputation, no one will put me back to work now. Please help me & my family continue our medical coverage so I can be treated and relieve the financial stress until I am employable again.
