My Name is Joe
I have 13 herniated discs in my back, Lumbar stenosis, spinal stenosis. Forminal changes, scoliosis, spondylitis, spondylithesis, spondyliosis, facet fractures, degenerative disc disease, crushed sciatic nerve roots, and kmy back is riddled with arthritis. I require extensive surgery and I am presently in pain mgmt. I have no quality of life at a young 50yrs old, I need a walker or a cane to walk on my good days and on my bad days, the days I can not walk at all, I am confined to my bed.
Ironically I have spent my whole life working as an advocate for children and persons with disabilities. I have a 23 Year Old daughter, Amanda, who has Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and Microcephally. I have dedicated my life to helping persons and children like her. Children and persons with disabilities. Now I find myself in what is supposed to be the prime of my life with my own disability.
My pain mgmt consists of steroidal epidural injections, medications and nerve blocks which barely offer any relief. SSI is not an option as it doesn't allot me enough to live, nor will they give it to me because of my income, which is barely enough to survive, but too much for benefits that I have paid into my whole life.
I have always considered myself self sufficient, and a hard worker, it humbles me greatly to reach out and ask for help but I am left with no options. The bills are piling up, I am going to need surgery and continue my pain mgmt and I won't have any coverage nor will I be able to pay for it on my own. I wont be able to afford my pain medications, and the surgeries i need are so far out of reach.
I just want to be able to put my life back together and get tthrough this impass in my life, so that I can have a quality of life and go back and continue worked ing and do what I do best, Advocating, teaching and helping others!
So I humble myself and put aside my hubris and I post here.
Please help! Even a donation of a couple or a few dollars can help make a big difference.
