Joe's Long Recovery Journey
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lynn and I'm Joe's cousin. Joe's sister, Suong, and their parents asked me to send this message to you:
"Our goal is for Joe to regain basic functions so that he can have a quality of life - this includes relearning language and speech, chewing, swallowing and moving his limbs. We ALL know how much Joe enjoys eating! Over the next few weeks, we will be working hard to get him accepted into a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and spinal cord injury neurorehabilitation program so that he can receive PT/OT/SLP therapy. At the moment, our top choice is Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia. All donations will go towards Joe's neurorehabilitation. We want him to receive as much therapy as possible during the early stages of his brain and spinal cord injuries because studies show that the earlier the intervention, the better the outcome. We don't know how many days his insurance will pay for inpatient rehab so we are asking for your help to keep him there as long as possible. We have hope that Joe can be independent in the years to come. This will be a long journey. Pease continue to pray for Joe. Sincerely, Joe's mom, dad and sister".
Update: Joe has been accepted into Shepherd Center!!! All donations are going to his parents, Sa and Hien, who plan to use the funds to support Joe's treatments and medical expenses. They are extremely grateful for everyone's generosity and can't wait to share updates as Joe's journey progresses.
