Joe's Journey: Overcoming Paralysis Together
Donation protected
I'm Danny Stevenson. My wife Francie has a brother, Joe Ancona, who had a life-changing accident on 7 July 2025. While walking in Laughlin, NV, he felt odd, so he sat on a wall to cool off. He lost consciousness, and when he came to, he was lying on the ground and couldn't move his arms or legs. Two passers-by fortunately saw him and called 911. He was taken to a hospital in Laughlin, but they were not equipped to treat him, so he was flown by helicopter to Las Vegas, where he has been since then. He had surgery on his neck to relieve pressure on the spine and has now regained the ability for limited movement in his arms, as well as some motion in his toes. His prognosis is that he should make a full recovery with 6 to 12 months of physical therapy (PT). Once he is ambulatory enough to make the trip to the PT facility in Mesa, Arizona, he will be transported there by ambulance. Joe's wife, Maria, has been with him since she was notified. As you can imagine, this has had a large financial impact, and it is not over yet. $5,000-$6000 for the helicopter, $1.700 for food, lodging and local transportation, $1,750 for hospital co-pay, and $1040 for ambulance co=pay to PT facility. And that is just costs to date. There will be $150 co-pay per day after the first 20 days for the PT facility. That will be a lot for 6-12 months! Can you help by donating to help defray these costs? Any amount is appreciated.
