My father’s life changed forever after he became a victim of police brutality and excessive force. He called 911 for help, but instead was brutally beaten, strangled until his eyes were bloodshot, and tased twice—one of those times after he was tied up like a hog. The trauma his body endured led to rhabdomyolysis, and now he faces daily pain, nerve damage, numbness in his hands, and cervical spine injuries that has drastically made it more difficult for him to care for himself let alone work.

My father is an entrepreneur and a hardworking man who has always helped others in need. He is a man of respect, and the charges he was falsely accused of are completely out of character for him. It’s heartbreaking to see someone who has always given so much to others now struggling because of these charges that do not belong on his record. To make matters worse, he was unnecessarily sedated and his mugshot was taken while he was still under sedation, making him appear worse than he truly was.

Because of these false charges, my father lost his job, his car, and every source of income. He is unable to provide for himself or our family, and the stigma of these false charges makes it impossible for him to find work. Every day is a struggle to pay for medical care, legal fees, housing, and basic living expenses.
