Have a Heart for Joe Mccaffrey

These amazing people are my neighbors. Joey Mcaffrey  worked for the LIRR until heart problems prevented him from doing the job that he loved. He has been on disability since. It has now gotten to the point that he needs a new heart. He is currently (3/12/16) in Manhattan hoping to get moved up on the waiting list. Joe is the kind of guy that everyone knows, he'll put his coat on at 1:00 am to jumpstart your car. He was one of the first to drive around the neighborhood looking to help people after superstorm Sandy. If you live in Nesconset, you probably know him. He's just a great guy with an amazing family. So first...your prayers would help. The second is what few people realize... There are hundreds of charities out there that collect money for research. NOT ONE will actually help families pay their bills, their mortgage or necessities (like driving back and forth to the hospital) I know, I went through it. Without the help of family and friends we would have lost our home. So, that said, Dana (his wife) has had to take a lot of time off from her job. The stress of waiting and praying takes a huge toll, add the stress of worrying about how your bills will get paid? It's unbearable. So if you can find it in your heart to donate ANYTHING, even $1. It will help take the burden off these people at a time when they need to focus on Joe. When Joe is finally well (I refuse to believe he won't be). I will continue this quest to help others in need.
