Toward the end of September/beginning of October my dad lost his job and got very sick with covid for nearly a month. Shortly afterward his health started to get worse. My dad started to develop jaundice and major abdominal bloating. Due to lack of insurance after losing his job he was worried about going into the doctor. We got him enrolled through the open marketplace and he went into the emergency room at 12 am on December 1st. After some blood work and a CT scan my mom and I, sitting in the ER along side him, received news We were the furthest from expecting. "There are some interesting CT scans that we've seen, and yours might be in the top 5" in addition to an inflamed liver, an active infection, and potentially partially collapsed lungs, they found legions on his liver and similar legions on his stomach lining. "You have cancer in your liver, and it didn't come from your liver."

He's been admitted to the hospital and is currently undergoing further treatment and diagnosis. They've drained 4 liters of fluid from his abdomen and sent that off to labs to get checked for a number of things including infection that would prevent them from taking liver biopsies. They're looking to take biopsies to determine the type of cancer and treatability. At this point we are hoping for the best as it's all really been alot of bad news without much time to process. I will try to make updates here as we learn more. We were also told that the cancer may be blocking a major pathway for the liver to process fluid, causing the backup of fluid in his legs and abdomen. So there has been conversation about them putting a stint in his liver to open that back up to prevent the fluid backup in his legs abdomen.

Any money donated here will obviously go toward medical bills accrued in this process and other expenses to assist my mom and dad through this whole process.
