Help Joel attend TTC & grow a TM Centre in the UK

Five years ago, a seed was planted.
In 2020, I practiced Transcendental Meditation (TM) for the first time with my teacher, Richard Tollinton.
From the very first week of practising TM, I could feel the difference. The technique was so simple and effortless that it fit seamlessly into my routine—and, most importantly, I felt better in so many ways. For instance, I noticed that my academic performance improved significantly, my relationships became more fulfilling, and I found myself approaching challenges with greater calmness and equanimity.
As I noticed these changes within myself, I had a strong intuition: this was an essential tool, a tool that everyone should have access to. I knew deep down that, someday, I wanted to share this important tool as a teacher.
With this growing intuition, I continued to nourish the seed through:
- Completing the TM-Sidhi Programme in 2022 and practicing regularly since then.
- Supporting the exposure of important TM projects through my work as Social Media and Email Marketing Lead at the David Lynch Foundation UK (since June 2023 to present).
- Completing my Master’s dissertation in 2022, investigating whether ‘the regular practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM) influences the way an individual relates to and identifies with the natural world?’
- Attending and volunteering at the 10,000 for World Peace Course in Hyderabad.
- Starting two months on Purusha in 2025 at the Maharishi Vedic Centre in Nepal.
Now, I’m ready to take the next step: becoming a certified TM teacher, teaching full-time to help expand the West Yorkshire TM centre and to support global peace-creating projects.
After finishing my training, I plan to return to the UK to support my teacher, Richard Tollinton, at the West Yorkshire TM Centre.
I believe the West Yorkshire TM Centre has the potential to become a leading TM hub in the UK, particularly with its large population of young professionals and students around Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, and York. With my background in events management and marketing, I will help to reach new audiences, organise impactful events, and expand the centre’s presence among young, creative people - helping to build a strong and dynamic TM centre.
About Me

My name is Joel Pimm, and I’m 26 years old from Bury, near Manchester, in the North of England.
I’ve always been drawn to exploring deeper questions—looking beyond the surface level of life to understand the connections between people, nature, and consciousness. This curiosity has shaped my path, from academic study and professional experience to my personal meditation practice.
As I progressed with my studies, especially during my Master’s, I became fascinated by the relationship between humans and the natural world— especially how our inner environment influences how we care for and interact with nature. This curiosity, along with my subjective experience of my own meditation practice, led me to complete my dissertation with the title ‘Does the regular practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM) influence the way an individual relates to and identifies with the natural world?’ This was the highlight of my academic journey - merging my passion for meditation and our connection with nature in an academic setting.
Since completing my Masters, I have developed a strong passion for environmental conservation and regenerative agriculture. In this pursuit, I’ve worked at organisations such as the Woodmeadow Trust, which takes practical action to address the catastrophic decline in biodiversity in the UK, and interned with organisations such as Navdanya International in India, which promotes seed sovereignty and biodiversity in agriculture.
I have found through my environmental work, my work with the David Lynch Foundation UK, and my own meditation practice that timeless knowledge is essential to solving many of the modern challenges in our society.
How You Can Help
The course fee, with a partial scholarship, is approximately £9,618, excluding travel, visa, insurance, and other expenses. Through my savings, I am able to provide £2000 towards the course fee. Therefore, my target for fundraising is £8000, which would make attending TTC this year financially viable.
Any contribution towards this target—big or small—will directly support bringing a new, young TM teacher in the UK who is dedicated to developing a thriving centre in the North of England, helping more people experience the life-changing benefits of TM.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this page to others you think may be able to support would mean the world to me.
Thank you so much!

Joel
