It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the sudden passing of our friend, workmate, and brother, Joel McHughes.

Joel was more than just a colleague—he was family. A proud rail man through and through, Joel was the kind of bloke who never shied away from a hard day’s work. He stood tall, stood up for his mates, and gave everything he had to every job he took on. He was loyal, strong, and dependable—an old-school worker with a good heart and a quick wit.

But above all, Joel was a family man.

He leaves behind his loving wife and children, a young family who adored him and who he worked tirelessly to provide for. Joel was their rock, their protector, and their sole provider. His sudden passing has left an unimaginable void—not only in their hearts, but in their lives and future.

We are raising funds to support Joel’s family during this incredibly painful time. The money raised will go directly toward funeral expenses and helping ease the financial burden that comes with the loss of their main source of income. It’s one small way we can show love, respect, and gratitude for the man Joel was—and to honour the family he held so close.
