Four years ago Joel was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. After 6 months of chemotherapy, he was in full remission and was looking forward to the 5 year remission mark, of which he had a 90% chance of achieving according to the oncologist.
After 3 months, however, he experienced an "aggressive" relapse. The new prognosis would require a bone marrow transplant. The transplant would render him infertile, bedridden for 6 or more months, and was a very risky procedure with inconclusive results.
