Joel Hatcher Memorial Scholarship
Joel Hatcher always had a passion for music. Starting at a young age, he picked up the guitar with natural instinct. He would ride his bike to lessons and sessions with his friends all over the Antelope Valley. As an adult, music gave Joel a voice, a creative outlet and a career. With great sadness, Joel lost his battle with brain cancer in April 2020. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend, with the purest heart you ever met. His hugs had genuine healing powers. His love of music brought people together. To see Joel play was to witness pure joy and freedom of spirit. It is in this spirit that Joel’s friends and family want to support the young musicians of the Antelope Valley, carrying on Joel’s legacy. In cooperation with Mel Booker Music, The Joel Hatcher Music Fund will help supply young people with lessons and instruments, cultivating the next generation to find their voices.
This is just the starting point. If we can raise enough funds, in the future, we will set up a trust to have a scholarship of young musicians of the Antelope Valley.
