Hi, I am Beth Duncan, the cousin of Joel Beane. On November 28, 2023, Joel had a abdominal aorta dissect (rupture). He was life flighted to Seattle, Washington. Joey had a 12 hour surgery to repair/replace the aorta, as well as a heart valve. The surgeons now think there is a second aneurysm near his kidney that will require a second major surgery. Joey has also had a stroke. We will not know the extent of the damage from the stroke for some time. Only 30% of people even make it to the hospital and only 20% of people survive the surgery after an aortic aneurism.

Joey's family is in North Pole and Anchorage, Alaska. I am setting up this GoFundMe to help with travel, hotel, taxi and food cost. Joey may be in the hospital in Seattle for a month or more. Since he is unable to work, this will also help with Joey's bills.

Update as of December 1:

Joey has another tear in the aorta right below the repair they did Tuesday.

They need to do surgery on that next. He has lost a kidney, so he may need dialysis if the other kidney doesn't pick up the slack.
