I am setting this fund up for my father, Joe Harris. In April of 2015, he was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver . This was a very shocking diagnosis given one of the most common causes is alcoholism. My dad has never been a heavy drinker.He has most recently been hospitalized and treated at UAB for pneumonia and sepsis which the doctors felt was directly related to the liver failure. My dad has always been one of the hardest working men I have known. He has owned a small buisness for about 30 years, working hours on end  just to keep food on the table for our family. As hard as he worked, he was never able to afford health insurance. His health declined over the past couple of years and with no insurance there were no regular doctor appointments. On top of that, elevated liver enzymes were not mentioned at his previous hospitilalizations (for shingles and cellulitis) at the local hospital. This left the Cirrhosis undetected until it was so far gone that he now needs a transplant to save his life.  Without any insurance he will not even be considered for a transplant. I am trying to raise money to cover the cost of private pay insurance premiums until he qualifies for Medicare , to help with all of his other medical cost expenses, and living expenses since  he is unable to work, yet denied for disability. I am asking for any help and prayers you are willing in this difficult time. We need him here for many years to come. He is the kindest and most loving person ever. He has never met a stranger and anyone who has ever met him loves him as much as he does them. He told the doctors that he had a bunch(6) grandbabies that he needs to see grow up. Please give anything that you can, whether that be  prayers, monetary donations,or shares so that others may see.
