Help me teach music to kids in Bali

Hi, I'm Joe from Perth Western Australia. My job as a Research Assistant at Curtin University is about to end. Awww, but wait...

I have been invited by the Bali Bhakti Foundation in the town of Pejeng, near Ubud in the hills of Bali to begin a music class for local children, and to establish a great big new herb garden.

I want to raise funds to buy instruments and resources for the foundation, travel and my day to day expenses for up to 6 months. My accommodation has been generously provided at no charge. Yeahyeah!

I visited the village in April 2016 while on holiday and had a great time teaching the children how to play the ukulele and djembe. Soon after I left, my friend Jai told me they want more and that he could use my skills in their permaculture focussed farm.

My three objectives for this awesome challenge are:

1.       Begin a weekly music program for local children. Teach basic harmony and rhythm skills for self-empowerment and enjoyment. Purchase acoustic instruments for the organisation and assist with transport of children when required. 

2.       Provide labour and expertise to help expand the organisation's permaculture garden called Life Sprouts Farm. I will construct the irrigation, soil beds and shelter for a new herb garden.  A variety of herbs and flowers will be grown and sold on the local economy for the production of essential oils and health products.

3.       Grow the income stream for the organisation. The produce from the farm can be sold to create a supplementary income for the local families and business owners. Accountability will be provided by reporting on the organisation’s progress to donors.

I will be going to Pejeng on 11 December 2016. All my awesome donors will receive a monthly email update from me.
