Friends and coworkers of Joe Swanson are coming together to create a fund to help cover medical bills for a devastating diagnosis. In March of 2015, Joe's colonoscopy results came back as positive for colon cancer. He is a loving and dedicated collegue, friend, and father. We are creating this fund in hopes of bringing a little light to this darkness. We are confident that his passion for life and giving spirit will not be hindered by this battle, but rather just a mountain he is able to conquer. Joe has always been a sports enthusiast. As a child, he was very active. A friend remembers their time together as team mates, stating that he was the cause of many broken windows from "out-of-the-park" hits at the ball field. In his adult years, he is an avid football fan and also enjoys fishing. He scarcely has a day off, but when he does, Joe enjoys relaxing by the pool and spending time with his daughter.
Joe has been a dedicated employee to Nebraska Medicine for 30 years. His early mornings begin before the sun rises, and he often leaves after the sun sets. Dedication? On numerous occasions, Joe has worked several 16 hour shifts in a row, a deed most employees would rarely consider. Joe exemplifies reliability as an employee and friend. Joe doesn't complain. He brings a positive and hardworking attitude to the work place. He's knowledgable and a well rounded employee. Joe is always happy to share his skill set with anyone willing to learn. He enjoys spoiling his coworkers with a variety of treats and is likely found walking the halls in his scrubs and green bay packers hat.
Joe spends the vast majority of his time in pharmacy supply, organizing and distributing drugs to patients throughout the hospital. His smiling face is easily recognizable by employees in numerous departments at Nebraska Medicine. It's Joe's pleasure to help patients in dispersing medications and to do his part on their road to recovery.
Now, it's Joe's turn to be the patient. We hope to rally together to take care of him in his time of need. A donation in any denomination is greatly appreciated and we thank you all for your generosity. Please pray for Joe's quick recovery!
