Joe's journey to fight cancer

Hi, my name is Lauren Rucci. I’m the daughter of Joseph Rucci Jr. who is currently fighting cancer. On June 11th 2020, two days before his birthday, my father had a large lump on his right side of his neck. It was very concerning so he immediately went to the doctor. He was diagnosed in July with an infection in the neck but had to go under surgery ASAP. During the surgery, the doctor found three white spots on his lymph nodes that were positive with cancer. Due to him being diagnosed and not knowing where the cancer originally started from, they put a drain in his neck. A few days later, when he returned to the doctor, he had to go through a second surgery. The doctor said that the cancer might have started from his tonsils and have them removed. During the second surgery, they also found a noncancerous tumor underneath his cheekbone blocking his airways & a deviated septum. It has been three weeks since his second surgery & the cancer has officially been diagnosed with Unplugged lymph node cancer. My father currently has to go through radiation everyday & chemotherapy every three weeks. If anyone knows my father personally, you would know that he loves to work & is always busy. This transition has been very tough & now with his treatment, he is incapable to do anything. My father is not allowed to work with his condition currently, and is unable to receive anything from the government. In our household, it is my father, mother & myself and making our rent & bills is very hard and near impossible with COVID-19.
