Hello! My name is Jennifer Lorona. I am a proud mother of four. This story is about our oldest child Joe
Rudy. Many families have been affected by COVID and this is where my son's story began. In June 2021,
my family contracted COVID, it seems as though we had all fought off this illness, that was until day 9.
Joe Rudy who was 25 and very healthy at the time wasn’t doing too well, he was having intense back
pain, running a high fever, and was having trouble breathing. He was rushed to the hospital and after
numerous tests, X-Rays, and MRI’s we found out the devasting news Joe Rudy was in “Kidney failure
stage 5, also called end-stage renal disease.” He was instantly put on dialysis and had a hospital stay of
about a month. During this journey, Joe Rudy has been in the hospital numerous times due to
complications of this disease, but one thing I can say is that my son is a fighter. Fast forward to January
9, 2023, that is the day we almost lost him. He went to the hospital because he wasn’t feeling well and
was having trouble breathing. As the hospital staff was administering a breathing treatment, he coded 3
times. This is a parent’s worst nightmare, but I believe in my heart that someone was watching over him
and it wasn’t his time to leave. He was in a medically induced coma and ventilator for three days. I
thank GOD every day that he gave my son a second chance at life. As a parent, we want to take away our
children’s pain, and hardships that they may endure and would trade them places in a heartbeat. This
journey has been a learning experience for the whole family and we see the toll that it has taken on Joe
Rudy, not only physically, and mentally but also emotionally and one should only focus on healing. I find it hard to ask for help, but it has come to the point where I am asking the community for help.
I have set up this GOFUNDME account to take off some of the financial burdens that Joe Rudy has
endured. It will help him focus on healing. The funds raised will go towards medication/medical
bills/medical supplies that are not covered by his insurance, gas money for his dialysis services (3X a
week), current living situation (motel stay) and future living situation once a place becomes
available. Joe Rudy plans on moving to Mammoth where his dialysis center is located. Thank you for
your time and consideration on this. If a donation isn’t feasible at this time, please share Joe Rudy’s
story and keep him in your prayers.
With love
Jennifer
