In December, our beloved Joe had an MRI to investigate some hearing loss. It was discovered that he had a brain aneurysm. After many procedures he was told that he not only had one but now had two aneurysms and the area in which they were located was very unstable and at great risk for a rupture. He decided to get a second opinion at Johns Hopkins. The surgeon there also confirmed the risk that these were posing and suggested surgery sooner rather than later. A highly invasive and risky clipping procedure was the recommended surgery as this would be the best long term solution. Joe was ready to get the surgery over with so he could get back to his family and his work both of which was his whole life, he loved them both and was ready to get on with his life.
On February 16th, surgery was scheduled and initially started off well, but during surgery after the larger aneurysm was clipped a small leak started which in turn caused the other aneurysm to rupture. A second clip was placed on the rupture but the main vessel that was leaking would not stop and the only way to stop it was to close the whole vessel. Our worst nightmare happened and he suffered a severe stroke.
This was not the outcome his family expected nor wanted, but are now looking at a long recovery with extensive rehabilitation. We are hoping for the best outcome for Joe in his recovery process but it's still too early to predict how much he'll recover.
Medical expenses for Joe will be extremely costly and will continue to accrue for an extended amount of time. Your contribution will be used to help pay for these medical costs and help his family and four children care for Joe. Every dollar whether big or small will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for any contribution to the Randazzo family.
All who know Joe, know he is a fighter and never quits. His kindness to everyone and willingness to help others is what we hope everyone will remember as we help Joe and his family. Above all, please pray for Joe and his family for strength during this difficult time. Let's help him in his fight! Live and love every day like there is no tomorrow!
